Randy and Kathy’s land has plenty of space for their 20.59KW DC / 17.6KW AC ground mount solar energy system built within a short distance from their home on unshaded land. TruNorth Solar built this stand alone system with thirty (300 watt) Suniva Solar Panels then later added twenty-eight (430w) Hanwha Qcells Modules . The panels have a 35 degree tilt and 180 degree azimuth.
On the financial side solar incentives covered approximately $9000. of the solar system cost. The system began to save the family money on their electric bill on day one!
The excellent environmental benefits from this fixed solar array include producing enough clean energy kW’s to offset the greenhouse gas emissions from burning 8,708 coal lbs. per year, or 17,899 average passenger vehicle miles, or as much carbon as sequestered by 6.16 acres of U.S. forests in one year!
