Work with one of the Midwest’s leading solar installers based in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.

TruNorth Solar is looking for several solar interns for the spring and summer of 2022 in a workforce development effort with the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA). TruNorth Solar was competitively selected by a local advisory committee to work with the MREA to execute one of their largest Group Buy programs in recent years. Job Description:

Support typical small business activities for solar energy contracting. Tasks will mainly include supporting the field installation teams. In addition to supporting construction, intern will also have opportunities to shadow solar energy assessments, observe customer relations, marketing activities, design and permitting activities and any other general administrative operations to get a feel for as many aspects of the solar industry as possible with this unique opportunity.

Preferred skills but not compulsory:

Solid understanding of the mathematics behind solar production and solar production equipment, i.e., a general understanding of how Solar Photovoltaic works. Construction background, carpentry, mechanical, electrical and/or engineering interest or experience is a major boost for the person we are looking to hire. General computer skills (Microsoft/Google Suite), comfortable with heights and able to lift 40lbs plus on a regular basis is required.

General Competence:

Soft skills such as being familiar with construction projects, problem solving, resourcefulness, customer relations, critical thinking, physical endurance, presentation skills and strong organization competencies are a plus.

Start Date: Immediately

Compensation During Internship:

Starting wage commensurate with experience ($16 to $20 per hour is typical for the internship, for applicants with more experience, full-time wage consideration can be discussed)
